I have an ideal vision of fall reading. Hot tea, cool breeze, cozy blanket, fireplace and a really good book. More realistically it will be me reading on my kindle in bed with my anti-aging cream on, struggling to get 5 pages in before I fall asleep and dropping my kindle square on my face. Unfortunately that’s a true scenario that happens most nights. However, I love the transition from beach reads to something with a little more depth. Here’s some contenders on my fall To Be Read list.
The God of The Woods by Liz Moore
Apparently this is THE BOOK of the summer. To me it sounds perfect for the transition to fall. I haven’t read a twisty book that I couldn’t put down in a minute so this one will be devoured. Just the description had me hooked. A teenager goes missing from a summer camp but also her brother vanished years earlier.
The Authors Guide to Murder by Karen White, Beatriz Williams, and Lauren Willig
This locked-room mystery comes out November 5th and sounds like the perfect fall novel. This story of satire, romance, and unexpected friendship by three bestselling authors will be perfect to cozy up with a hot cup of tea to read. I like something with a little intrigue when the weather gets colder. Its giving “was that the wind, or an intruder in my house”… you know you’ve thought it.
It Ends with Us by Coleen Hoover
I’m again SO late to the game on this one. I even already own this book, I asked for it for Christmas, but have yet to read it. I always spoil movie adaptations by not reading the book first but that ends with this (book). See what I did there?
Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott
I have been challenging myself to be more creative and lean into my writing. I actually bought this book awhile ago for my husband because I heard it was so good. This will be a nice short read that hopefully helps with some writing inspiration and motivation.
